Mud Run '04 and Smoke Show 2004!
On May 29th, 2004 we hosted our 4th Annual Mud Run and
our 2nd Smoke Show. It was a huge success! Even though
it was a very cold day and we even saw a few snow flakes,
the crowd was incredible. We believe a fair estimate is we
had at least 2,000 spectators throughout the day. Many
came for a while and left due to the cold. Many came early
and stayed all day. The Kiwanis were very busy all day.
The line to the food booth was reported to me to be 45 min.
to 1 hour long at times. Next year we will be adding another
food vendor and expanding the spectator area by about 75%.
We had 4 classes for the Mud Run. Pit A was for vehicles
with
tires up to 33" in diameter. Pit B was for vehicles with tires
34" and up. Each pit had a stock and modified class.
Each contestant was allowed 2 runs and we took the best
of the 2 runs. They were judged first on distance, second
on time. The $30 entry fee included a $10 T-shirt, $10
towards a cash payback and $10 for a wash job by the
Colebrook Fire Department. The first place winners in each
class got a $100 gift certificate to one of the following...
Bond Auto Parts
Coos Auto Parts
LaPerle's IGA
Northern Tire
The Smoke Show was also a great success. We had 12
entries
and divided them into 4 classes. We ran the 4 Smoke Show
competitions between the Mud Run classes. The $15 entry fee
went back to each of the 4 winners. Each contestant also
received a limited edition 2004 Smoke Show T-Shirt. Each
winner was judged by crowd applause and also received a
$25 gift certificate from one of the following business'...
1rst Clarksville Store
Ducret's Sporting Goods
Lemieux's Garage
L.L. Cote
We sold out of all our t-shirts thanks to our great t-shirt
sales team Mike and Lisa Godzyk and Amanda Parker.
Crystal, Jaime and Jan sold 50/50 tickets. The winner of
the 50/50 received $680. Ticket holders also got a chance
at one of the following prizes...
AJ's Variety-Gift bag & $25 certificate
George's Pizza-$25 certificate
Wilderness Restaurant-$25 certificate

We built up the pit area with gravel.
Great job by Ed McKeage from WeLog.

We screened loam for the mud.
Thank You to Clark and Sam Jeffers.

We compacted the base with the biggest rolling machine we
could find.
Roller owned by Sheldon Gray Construction.

The pits are 15'x100' each. There is 100' of shut down.

16' x 30' concrete slab for the Smoke Show
Thank you to BM Concrete and Persons Concrete.

We filled the pits with screened loam.

We would have been lost without the generosity
of Dan Ouimette for the use of his skidder.

We wrestled with Mother Nature everyday the week of the
Mud Run. It rained every time we got the pits right. Thanks
to Dan Lynch for the use of his loader. We used it to add material
as the rain continued to pour down. Thank You to Mike Godzyk and
Ron Lyons for the last minute thickening materials.

Jeff Dobson and Mike Godzyk.
